1. Who is responsible

2. Information we handle
- Account information: name, email address, password hash, age, gender, city, and account settings.
- Profile information: profession, education, interests, your introduction, preferences, and profile photos.
- Conversation information: messages, conversation history, feedback, reports, relationship state, and selected memory used to maintain continuity.
- Generated information: AI responses, introductions, image observations, character Moments, and safety classifications.
- Technical information: app version, device and browser type, language, approximate region, logs, crash information, security events, and identifiers needed to operate the service.
- Support information: messages and attachments you send when requesting help, reporting content, or exercising a right.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you when you create a profile, upload photos, change settings, chat, report content, or contact us. We may collect limited technical information automatically when the app operates. Service providers process information on our behalf when needed to provide AI, hosting, security, support, and reliability.
Hosted account records, prepared profile photos, match state, settings, reports, and conversation history are stored on Almost systems so your account can continue across devices and authorised Almost personnel can review conversations for quality and safety. Your browser may keep a local cache for speed and resilience. Information included in an AI request is transmitted to the configured AI provider to generate the requested response.

- To create and secure your account.
- To make introductions and personalize the conversation.
- To maintain authorised memory and continuity.
- To analyse profile photos for limited, non-sensitive context.
- To generate replies, character-initiated messages, Moments, and character media.
- To detect abuse, prevent harmful output, and investigate reports.
- To debug, measure reliability, and improve the service.
- To comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users.
Where consent is the basis for processing, you may withdraw it. We do not use consent to waive legal rights. If information is necessary to provide a feature, withdrawing consent may mean that feature can no longer operate.
5. Profile photos and image analysis
Profile photos may be resized and prepared on your device. When image context is enabled, selected images may be sent to an AI service to identify directly visible, non-sensitive details useful for conversation, such as an activity, setting, object, colour, pet, or style choice.
Almost does not use that analysis to assign beauty scores, criticize your body or appearance, infer religion, ethnicity, health, disability, wealth, sexuality, or relationship status, or recommend cosmetic changes. Do not upload a photo unless you have the right to use it.
Prepared profile photos are stored with your hosted account so your profile can be restored on another device. Deleting your account requests deletion of those hosted copies as well as the browser cache.
6. AI service providers
Almost uses third-party AI and infrastructure providers, including OpenAI for configured conversational and image-understanding features, Google for optional Google sign-in, and Resend for transactional account email. We send each provider only the information required for the feature, such as recent messages, relevant profile context, selected images, identity-token claims, or an email address. These providers process data under their agreements, security controls, and applicable law.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not currently use your private conversations or profile photos for targeted advertising.
7. When information may be shared
Conversations are not visible to other users. A small number of authorised Almost personnel may access profiles, conversations, feedback, and reports when reasonably needed to evaluate conversation quality, investigate safety issues, improve the service, or respond to a support request. Access is limited to those purposes.
We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary to:
- Service providers that host, secure, moderate, support, or power the product on our instructions.
- Professional advisers under duties of confidentiality.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary to address fraud, security, safety, or legal claims.
- A successor in a merger, reorganisation, financing, or sale, subject to appropriate protections and notice where required.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep personal data only while it is needed for the purposes described here, to maintain the account, or to satisfy legal, security, and dispute obligations. When you delete your account, we aim to remove account data from active systems within 30 days and from routine backups within 90 days, unless a longer period is legally required or needed to investigate abuse or protect legal rights.
In-product account deletion requests deletion of the hosted account, profile, photos, state, conversations, and reports, then clears the browser cache. The retained identity record is immediately deactivated and stripped of its email, password, profile, and other identifying fields; a non-identifying database key may remain where linked records or legal logs require it. If server deletion cannot be confirmed, the browser copy is deliberately preserved so you can safely retry. Third-party providers may retain limited logs according to their contracts and lawful retention schedules.

9. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask for access to information about your personal data, correction, erasure, withdrawal of consent, grievance redressal, or nomination of another person to exercise rights in specified circumstances. You can also change profile information, control initiated messages, report content, and delete your account.
Send a request to privacy@myalmost.com. We may verify your identity before acting. You may have the right to raise an unresolved complaint with the Data Protection Board of India or another competent authority.
10. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including access controls, encryption in transit, secret management, monitoring, and data minimisation. No system is completely secure.
Providers may process information outside your state or country. When data crosses borders, we use contractual and other safeguards required by applicable law and follow any restrictions notified by the Government of India.
11. Adults only and policy changes
Almost is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. If you believe a minor has used Almost, contact us so we can investigate and delete the account where appropriate.
We may update this policy as the product and law change. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by another reasonable method before they take effect where required.
